Craftcy: marketplace for artists
A case study project to design a responsive marketplace platform for artist and their customers in Cyprus.

01. PROJECT OVERVIEW
Problem
The art marketplace industry in Cyprus for ceramics, candles, and paintings has experienced steady growth over the past few years. The demand for unique and handmade art pieces is increasing, presenting a significant opportunity for market expansion. Local artists in Cyprus face difficulties in finding a suitable platform to sell their handmade products, while buyers who are interested in purchasing unique and locally crafted pieces for their homes have limited options to access such products.
Solution
Design a marketplace platform that enables individual artists in Cyprus to easily and effectively showcase and sell their handmade products and provide a seamless shopping experience for customers who are looking for unique and locally-made tableware for their homes.
02. RESEARCH
User research
To create a human-centred interface and know about users paint points and delights, based on competitors and market research, were conducted 8 in-depth interviews with local artists and art lovers.

Customers have a difficulty in discovering new and unique art pieces among the vast selection.

Solution

Enhance the browsing experience with advanced search and filtering options, personalized recommendations based on customer preferences.

Artists have limited exposure for artwork, struggling to reach a wider audience.

Provide artists with comprehensive and visually appealing profiles that showcase their portfolio, background, and artistic process, helping them to stand out and build credibility.

Showcase customer reviews and ratings, implement a rigorous verification process to ensure the authenticity of handmade artworks, display detailed artist profiles and bios.

Artists and customers express a desire to promote and support local art in Cyprus.

Highlights local artists and their works, organizing virtual events, and partnering with local art organizations to foster a sense of community support and encourage the purchase of local art.

Recognizing that users were facing difficulties in finding their way around, I developed a user-friendly sitemap. By making strategic information architecture decisions, I aimed to simplify the browsing journey and enhance overall usability.

Homepage
Homepage showcases a prominent search bar with powerful filtering options, empowering users to find exactly what they're looking for. In the mobile version of the homepage, the focus is on showcasing the main shopping categories in order to engage users and spark their curiosity to explore further.
Product page
The page includes a detailed description that highlights the inspiration, techniques, artist description and materials used in creating the artwork. User reviews and ratings are prominently displayed on the product page to allows potential buyers to gain insights from others who have purchased and experienced the artwork firsthand.
